Astrology explained clearly
The vedic birth chart
The Kundli is the birth chart of Indian astrology. This calculator works sidereally with the Lahiri ayanamsha and whole signs as houses. It shows your lunar mansion and pada, your Lagna, the dignities of the seven classical planets in the Rashi chart (D1) and the Navamsa (D9), the strongest planet, Manglik and Kaal Sarpa – calculated, not narrated.
Why the Moon comes first
In vedic astrology the Moon carries the inner life. Its lunar mansion (nakshatra) divides the zodiac into 27 segments of four padas each. Because the Moon travels about 13° a day, a single hour of birth time can change the nakshatra; the calculator tells you when your Moon is close to a boundary.
Dignities, not grades
Dignity describes how comfortable a planet is in its sign – exalted, in its own sign, with a friend or debilitated. The basis is the classical text Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra. A low dignity describes a theme that takes effort, not a flaw. Rahu and Ketu are not rated because the schools disagree about them.
Doshas without fear
Manglik and Kaal Sarpa are named and put in context, never as a warning. For Manglik the calculator checks Mars from three reference points and lists the classical cancellations; Kaal Sarpa is a term from later practice that the old texts do not know. Nothing here predicts marriage, health or fate.
Frequently asked questions
Is the chart calculator free?
Yes. Guests receive a limited free quota; an account offers further calculations according to the quota shown.
Do I need an exact birth time?
Preferably yes for the ascendant and houses. Without it, those parts of the chart are less reliable.
How is a Sun sign different from an ascendant?
The everyday “zodiac sign” usually means the Sun. The ascendant is the sign rising on the eastern horizon at the time of birth.
Can a chart predict the future?
Gaist treats astrology as a symbolic tool for reflection. A chart does not establish unavoidable events or decisions.
